So the exhibition went up, a third of the prints found homes and I found myself getting a bit of free press in the Examiner, which has resulted in more work, offers for some series of prints, a few wedding enquiries and alot of business cards ending up in peoples hands. To break even after the launch was nice so in celebration, all remaining prints from the exhibition are now available for half price, and reprints are availible to those who want something in particular, just contact for reprint pricing and what prints are left.

This past month has seen the largest amount in growth in myself as a photographer, probably since I first picked up a camera back in college. I've been studying the works of others, appraising my own and most importantly not taking the easy shot. I'm very lucky to have two out of work mentors and mates (thanks Paul and Richard) who have been able to show me some simple visual mistakes that alot of photographers make when first starting out. I've also scored around 8 front pages for the paper in this time, which considering I only work 3 days a week is a fairly grand achievement, so I'm feeling pretty good about what lies ahead for me from here on in. Any how, enough of the grey, here is a selection of pics from some recent Examiner work I've been up to.

So the Brand New Era exhibition of mine is now up at Blue Gallery, Inveresk. The launch held last Thursday attracted about 60 invited guests, and was the largest exhibition launch to be held at Blue, so that was quite an achievement! 6 Prints were sold on the opening night, and so far a further two have sold, as well as a small collection of reprints of some of the shots. I'd really love it if you were in Launceston, and get a chance to check out the exhibition, you contact me with your thoughts and opinions. After talking to a few people since the launch, I'm quite keen on the idea of having a follow up exhibition sometime next year, so here are a few that didn't make the cut this time, that might see the light of day some time soon....Untill next time... Elvis Costello

On Stage Portrait. If you ever take have tried to take photos at a concert you would appreciate how hard it is to get a shot like this...

Elvis costello is my favourite musician. Full Stop. So when he plays a show in Hobart you can be sure I'll buy front row tickets. Last night was an intimate occasion with Elvis simply playing guitar solo, doing different versions of well known hits of his as well as throwing inThe Beatles's 'Hide Your Love Away' during his track 'New Amsterdam'.

All the photos were taken during the Encore, and Elvis was hamming it up. Happily dancing infornt of the camera for me.

An awesome show it was for all.

So, the prints are done, the final 3 big 20X30" ones are being matted up and all systems are go! This exhibition, features only well known acts, 10 from JJJ's Hottest 100 of all time, one act who's sold 145 million albums, some Australian chamipons and a few characters, But to find out who made the cut you'll have to come along or look out for the preview in the Examiner just before the launch date. All the prints are being sold mounted and matted, ready to frame, and they are being priced conservatively, so that people who are fans of music, not just art can afford to buy. Here's a recap:

So although it seems quiet on the surface, things have been very busy behind the scenes getting ready for my first exhibition. The Brand New Era will be on display later next month at Blue Cafe in Launceston and I'm flat out ordering frame mounts and sizing up prints as we speak. There will be around 25 pieces on display for people to look at, and buy if they feel so inclined so hopefully it will all go well and be another highlight in an already awesome year here. Tim Rogers - You Am I

I mentioned before I went overseas about an upcoming exhibition of my images to be held here in Launceston. October 22nd - for about 4 weeks will see a mix of Black and White and Toned images from my personal music archives ondisplay at Blue Cafe in Inveresk. For about the last 5 years I've followed around the music festivals and a few random concerts both here in Tasmania and in Melbourne and as I'm taking this summer off the Falls Festival (the first one in Tasmania I'll ever miss!!!), decided it was time to share some of my favorite pics and offer them for sale as a unique gift for someone you love this Christmas. None of these prints have been available to purchase before, and all will be mounted on matte board ready to frame. Hi all, and welcome back to regular updates here on the blog. if you didn't know before hand, I have been away overseas this month spending time at an orphanage in Singaraja, Indonesia, in a joint project between, Beyond the Box (Tasmania) and Zions Hill Church at this end, and dMaker International and Mercy Indonesia at their end. In 9 days, I managed to shoot about 3500 photos, which we have culled down to 350 for slides, and probably about 100 images that will be edited and used for promotional purposes by all the parties involved. Anyhow, these are a few quick spontaneous portraits of the new kids in my life.Selvi, looks serious, but is really full of smiles.

And Angel was a special visitior who was also staying at the orphange for the week we were there.

You notice, that i say they are always smiling and happy? Even though they were only just starting to learn english, a smile, a wave and an image on the back of the camera was enough to communicate with them and see just how happy they were to have visitors. Look out for some more pics of the scenery and lifestyle here over the next few weeks.

I'm just in the process of doing up some pictures for the finest bakery in Tasmania, Tant Pour Tant.
The photos were actually taken at the end of last year but with so much going on in both our schedules it's only been in the last month we've gotten together to pick out which ones to polish and use as advertising material and pick some to frame in the shop.
Here's a small selection from the edits.....
Essentially the color images are for use in advertising material and on a new website they plan to have up. The sepia ones are all small behind the scenes details that are going to be hung in the shop to give people something to think about as they enjoy their delicious food.

Digging throught the archive is both a rewarding and embarring job. When you've been shooting since college, alot of your work from earlier days just doesn't stand up to what you can achieve now, however you still can be pleasantly suprised by what you find at times.
