So the exhibition went up, a third of the prints found homes and I found myself getting a bit of free press in the Examiner, which has resulted in more work, offers for some series of prints, a few wedding enquiries and alot of business cards ending up in peoples hands. To break even after the launch was nice so in celebration, all remaining prints from the exhibition are now available for half price, and reprints are availible to those who want something in particular, just contact for reprint pricing and what prints are left.

This past month has seen the largest amount in growth in myself as a photographer, probably since I first picked up a camera back in college. I've been studying the works of others, appraising my own and most importantly not taking the easy shot. I'm very lucky to have two out of work mentors and mates (thanks Paul and Richard) who have been able to show me some simple visual mistakes that alot of photographers make when first starting out. I've also scored around 8 front pages for the paper in this time, which considering I only work 3 days a week is a fairly grand achievement, so I'm feeling pretty good about what lies ahead for me from here on in. Any how, enough of the grey, here is a selection of pics from some recent Examiner work I've been up to.

Brand New Era + Leftovers

So the Brand New Era exhibition of mine is now up at Blue Gallery, Inveresk. The launch held last Thursday attracted about 60 invited guests, and was the largest exhibition launch to be held at Blue, so that was quite an achievement! 6 Prints were sold on the opening night, and so far a further two have sold, as well as a small collection of reprints of some of the shots. I'd really love it if you were in Launceston, and get a chance to check out the exhibition, you contact me with your thoughts and opinions. After talking to a few people since the launch, I'm quite keen on the idea of having a follow up exhibition sometime next year, so here are a few that didn't make the cut this time, that might see the light of day some time soon....Untill next time... So, the prints are done, the final 3 big 20X30" ones are being matted up and all systems are go! This exhibition, features only well known acts, 10 from JJJ's Hottest 100 of all time, one act who's sold 145 million albums, some Australian chamipons and a few characters, But to find out who made the cut you'll have to come along or look out for the preview in the Examiner just before the launch date. All the prints are being sold mounted and matted, ready to frame, and they are being priced conservatively, so that people who are fans of music, not just art can afford to buy. Here's a recap:

Exhibition's a coming along.

So although it seems quiet on the surface, things have been very busy behind the scenes getting ready for my first exhibition. The Brand New Era will be on display later next month at Blue Cafe in Launceston and I'm flat out ordering frame mounts and sizing up prints as we speak. There will be around 25 pieces on display for people to look at, and buy if they feel so inclined so hopefully it will all go well and be another highlight in an already awesome year here.
